This image is of Duckboard Place in Melbourne, located between Russell and Exhibition Streets. Named in 1953, it was built in the interwar period and serviced as a WWII entertainment venue for the troops. The term ‘duckboard’ was first used during WWI and described a slatted timber path that was laid over muddy or wet grounds in the trenches/camps. It was a painful, long walk to take this shot as I have a broken leg, but was well worth it.
